Indie band, Hipnotics, prove themselves a force to be reckoned with in the release of their debut album, Drunk, Naked & Dreaming. This LA based experimental psych rock band has interwoven numerous elements to create their distinct wave of sound.

The combined talents of Hipnotics’ diverse line up has brought out the best in Drunk, Naked and Dreaming. While fusing heavy reverbed guitar, aggressive vocals and a punchy bass line the band confronts religious establishments in the single “Preacher Man”. Their knack for sound alteration displayed during the chaotic climax of “Not Enough Time”. The contrast of lead singer, Matt Ernst’s edgy vocals and smooth falsetto paint a picture of mental turmoil as he sings, “My mind takes on the looking glass” in “Glass Works”. The sonic environment of the album is suddenly altered with the heavy jazz and soul influences of “Autumns Interlude”. Ernst showcases his diverse vocal range over this ballad that is delicately colored with soothing saxophone improvisation. The title track “Drunk, Naked and Dreaming” perfectly captures that state of contemplation during the morning after blues. The introspective approach depicted by reversed percussion and resonating tones provoke deep thought and Hipnotics’ intricate approach to sound make this album nothing short of amazing.
